The QLDC is asking motorists using the Crown Range to ensure they carry chains as wintery weather begins to kick in.
It’s better to have them in the boot and not need them than leave them in the garage and regret it. If you do not have chains or are not confident driving in winter conditions, you should give serious thought to driving through the Kawarau Gorge, the alternative route between Wanaka and Queenstown.
The Crown Range Pass road is open. Drive to the conditions
Haast Pass road is open. Drive to the conditions
The Lindis Pass is open. Drive to the conditions
