Volunteering Celebrated in Cromwell & Wanaka
17 June 2013

Organisations across the country will celebrate the outstanding contribution volunteers make in Aotearoa New Zealand this National Volunteer Week from Sunday 16th to Saturday 22nd June.......

This year the country celebrates  in Te Reo Maori with the theme, “He Tangata! He Tangata! He Tangata!” The phrase translates as it is people, it is people, it is people.

Volunteering Central have invited volunteers across the Central Lakes District to celebrate volunteering and have their efforts recognised at a series of celebrations on Monday 17th in Cromwell and Alexandra, Tuesday 18th in Wanaka and Thursday 20th in Queenstown.

“National Volunteer Week is the perfect excuse to celebrate the volunteers who make such an enormous difference in our communities" Senior Coordinator Gillian White says, “many services, activities and events simply would not happen without their endless enthusiasm and dedication, and Volunteering Central is keen to ensure volunteers realise how much their efforts are appreciated".

In addition to the celebrations, Volunteering Central have linked up with local libraries to showcase the people themselves that keep organisations ticking along. Go along and see why volunteers do what they do and if you are a volunteer and intend to join the celebrations, please contact Volunteering Central to ensure there is enough cake to go around!
